Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will pay a grant to certain self-employments and small companies which suspend their businesses from April 16, 2020 to May 6, 2020 adopting advice from TMG in order to prevent infection of Covid-19 starting from early May, 2020.

1. Amount of Grant

¥500,000 (¥1,000,000 if there are two or more suspended shops/facilities in Tokyo)

2. Type of businesses

Businesses which provide certain services in Three Cs, i.e. Confined spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places and Close contact with people. The listed businesses are night club, bar, karaoke box, pub, net café and live houses, etc.

3. Application form

The form is obtained from TMG web site ( https://www.tokyo-kyugyo.com) or ( https://www.tax.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/jimusho/index.html#L2)

4. Period of application submission

From April 22, 2020 to June 15, 2020

5. Information Documents required

(a) Oath (a form to sign can be obtained from the web site above)
(b) A copy of Business License
(c) A copy of Tax Return for 2019
(d) A copy of driver license or passport
(e) A copy of document which shows that the facility is closed

6. Where to apply

E-filing is available. A mailing address and addresses of Tokyo Metropolitan Tax Offices where applicants can bring the form directly are in the web site above.

TMG recommends the applicants to ask Certified Tax Accountants or Certified Public Accountants to make sure that the application form and the Information Documents are appropriately prepared before submission so that timing of the grant payment may be speed up.
